Clinical Pilates

Clinical Pilates has been developed by physiotherapists to help with rehabilitation and prevention of muscle injuries that result from poor posture.  By emphasising proper breathing, correct spinal and pelvic alignment, and complete concentration on smooth, flowing movement, you become acutely aware of how your body feels, where it is in space, and how to control its movement.  The quality of movement is valued over quantity of repetitions.  Proper breathing is essential, and helps you execute movements with maximum power and efficiency.  Last but not least, learning to breathe properly can reduce stress.

We are able to offer individual instruction at the centre using Pilates equipment such as reformers, traps table & barrel.  Once core spinal control has been established then more complex movements are introduced – progressing the challenge.

How Clinical Pilates can be of benefit to you:

At Brighton Beach Physiotherapy Centre we follow the philosophies of Joseph Pilates.  He believed that “Physical fitness is the first requisite to happiness.  Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.” – Return to Life Through Contrology
