Women’s and Men’s Health Physiotherapy

Women’s and Men’s Health Physiotherapy can assist with an array of conditions that could be limiting your quality of life. Contact us for assistance with the following concerns:

  • Bladder – Bladder leakage, rushing to the toilet and going frequently are not normal. We can help with increase bladder control through bladder training techniques, pelvic floor rehabilitation and improved bladder habits.
  • Bowel – Loss of control and constipation can be distressing and is seldom talked about. There is help available to give you control and improved quality of life.
  • Pelvic and sexual pain - Pelvic pain during intercourse can be a result of difficulty in relaxing your pelvic floor. Physiotherapy can help to identify the problem contributing to pain and can help to reduce your pelvic muscle tension and restore intimacy.
  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse - 1 in 3 women experience pelvic prolapse, dragging and heaviness by the age of 50. It is more common than we realize and improving your pelvic floor muscle strength can reduce these symptoms and prevent further problems.
  • Pelvic surgery and prostatectomy are becoming more common and optimizing your pelvic floor will assist with recovery post-surgically and improve the success rate of the surgery
  • General pelvic floor checks – Research shows that only 50% of women and 40% of men can contract their pelvic floor correctly. In fact, incorrect contraction can cause more harm than good. Prevention is better than a cure. If you are unsure if you are doing the right contraction then we can use our real-time ultrasound machines to check your pelvic contraction and provide a customized pelvic floor rehabilitation program.
